Rajput Museum
We met friends and went shopping here; chatted with new arrivals to the hotel and I did homework. Our driver was with us through the whole week (thank goodness) and he took great care of us. This palace/hotel/museum is quite famous for celebrities having their birthday parties and flying people in from all over the world. They were preparing for one while we were there. It's called the Mehrangarh Museum Trust.
He told us they used to put opium in these and he demonstrated....
You can read some Rajput history here. Kalpana has all of the pictures of the history!
I believe I am looking UP this stairway...very womb looking, yes?
This folding stairway was used by royalty to go up - and then it was folded away so that no one could gain entry.
This man was very nice to pose with me.
This was a nest of birds on the high ceilings at the entrance...very cool to see them emerge.
Rajesthan Tour - 1st Stop Jodhpur
This very elegant boutique hotel is called Devi Bhavan and many Europeans and NRI's start here for their trip around Rajesthan. It's quiet, filled with antiques and family photos and has a pool (although I didn't get in). They made great masala chai and aloo paratha for breakfast - the BEST. This window was in my bathroom!
The beautiful pool. This view is from the hanging Jula (swing). You're looking at the dining room and kitchen beyond the fountain.
Is this the coolest bed EVER???
View from my bed....
Very cool mirror/armoire.
My very elegant bathroom!
