I LOVE the old cool buildings, either added on to centuries old ones, or relatively (100 years) new ones. This city has been re-made a few times and thank goodness they kept some of the cool Mogul buildings. That's a col temple in the middle picture and someone else's rooftops. I did see some kites flying that day and some people just hanging out above the din of the city. The third picture is looking toward the Old Fort down Chandi Chowk toward the Sikh worship center (Gudwara) sp?; its the one with the gold tops. This blog is not meant to be a tour book - it's more about the people I am spending time with, so you might have to google some things if you want to know more!
Since there were no guard rails up on top of the 3rd floor of the building that I'm standing on, I didn't go too close to the edge, but I couldn't resist taking a picture of the people looking up at me. Yes, I caused a stir everywhere I went - people just curious and of course people wanting an American to spend their dollars with THEM. I did see many more Europeans and Canadians on this trip than I have in previous trips and that was fun.
The family that we're visiting has four separate family apartments on this floor, so it was fun to go around a corner and voila! there's another door to another home! We had tea there the first day we arrived - spicey samosas, kachoori, all kinds of snacks and of course, CHAI MASALA.....wonderfully fun.
